Barefoot in the Park Auditions

Auditions this WeekPaul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does. Paul just doesn’t understand Corie, as she sees it. He’s too staid, too boring, and she just wants him to be a little more spontaneous. Running “barefoot in the park” would be a start…

Auditions will be held on April 9th and 9th 6pm-8pm at the Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St in Abrams
The play calls for various roles, both male and female 16 years or older

Auxiliary Presents $10,000 Check to HSHS St .Clare Memorial Hospital and Honors Dedicated Volunteers at Annual Luncheon

Oconto Falls – The Auxiliary of HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital held its annual luncheon in Oconto Falls on Monday, May 8 to recognize members who have reached milestones in their volunteer hours and to present the hospital with a generous $10,000 donation.

The Auxiliary of HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital was able to raise $10,000 through various fundraisers, including an annual salad luncheon, Love Basket Silent Auction, Holiday Bake Sale and Raffle, book fairs, uniform and cookie sales and the Christmas Memory Tree. HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital.

“HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital is appreciative of the work, dedication and commitment of the Auxiliary,” said Dan DeGroot, Chief Operating Officer, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital. “This money will be used to purchase inpatient visitor chairs that will provide our patients and their families with an enhanced patient care experience.”

The inpatient visitor chairs will be placed in patient rooms on the medical surgical floor for the comfort and convenience of friends and family who come to the hospital to visit patients. Patient interaction with friends and family while hospitalized contributes to their overall well-being and recuperation.

In addition to the check presentation on May 8, the Auxiliary of HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital also presented pins to members who reached milestones in their volunteer hours since joining the Auxiliary:

· Paul Karban, 100 hours
· Becky Schmitt, 100 hours
· Vicki Dobratz, 300 hours
· Kay Pendl, 400 hours
· Nancy Carrico, 900 hours
· Hope Hrabik, 2,000 hours
· Mary Lemmen, 17,000 hours

“People who join the Auxiliary do so because they are giving people by nature,” said Vicki Dobratz, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital Welcome Center Volunteer. “It’s wonderful to see so many people working well together and making sacrifices to help others in the community.”
The Auxiliary of HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital is actively looking for more volunteers. For more information about joining the Auxiliary, contact Regina Boettcher at (920) 848-6348.

A note from Matt Ternes, Project Manager Oconto County DOT:

WisDOT and the contractor have finalized plans for the advancement of stage 2 earlier than anticipated. Specifics on the stage 2 advancement are summarized as follows:

  • Stage 2 detour will start 5/30/17.  This detour will be WIS 22 to County B to County A to US 141 to WIS 22
  • The contractor will be allowed to start on stage 2 work (Highland Dr – County I) on 5/30/17.
  • The actual intersection of WIS 22/County I will remain open until after the regular school year is complete.  This will keep the north/south movement of County I open for local and bussing traffic.
  • After the school year, the contractor will be allowed to start work in the intersection of WIS 22/County I.
  • Allowing the contractor to start on this portion of the project sooner, we are hoping to complete the project up to 4 weeks sooner than initially expecting to.  As always, this is pending weather delays to the project.

If you have any questions/concerns, please let me know.

Thanks,

HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital Launches Emergency Telemedicine

As a federally-designated critical access hospital, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital (founded as Community Memorial Hospital in 1921) has served as a main provider of emergency care in Oconto County for decades. On May 1, 2017, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital launched the use of new technology that takes its emergency care services to a new, advanced level now and into the future. It’s called, Emergency Telemedicine.

Emergency Telemedicine allows patients in the HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital Emergency Department to be seen by emergency medicine physicians at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay … with only the click of a button! It serves as an added resource to the full-time, 24/7 care provided by the highly-skilled and trained emergency medicine providers on staff at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital.

“As part of Hospital Sisters Health System –Eastern Wisconsin Division, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center operate as one family,” said Dan DeGroot, Chief Operating Officer, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital. “As sister hospitals, we share the same mission and practices. Now, thanks to Emergency Telemedicine, we can also be in the same room to provide an enhanced level of emergency care when needed.”

Emergency Telemedicine involves the use of a portable device equipped with a screen, microphone, camera with zoom function and vital sign monitoring tools that can be wheeled to a patient’s bedside. When a patient arrives at the HSHS St. Clare Emergency Department, they are immediately and continuously cared for by the providers on staff. If a consultation or additional exam is needed, providers at HSHS St. Clare can use the Emergency Telemedicine technology to immediately contact a physician at HSHS St. Vincent or St. Mary’s to conduct a video conference and/or exam of the patient. The physicians at HSHS St. Vincent or St. Mary’s are available via Emergency Telemedicine 24-hours a day.

“In the past, consultations between the providers at HSHS St. Clare, St. Vincent and St. Mary’s were conducted over the phone,” said Colleen Koski, Director, Patient Care Services, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital. “Emergency Telemedicine allows us to make more accurate and efficient decisions about patient care. In some cases, it may also eliminate the need for a patient to be transferred to Green Bay for care.”

To learn more about Emergency Telemedicine at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, click here.

In March 2017, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital implemented Telestroke, which utilizes the same technology as Emergency Telemedicine to deliver faster, improved care of stroke patients. Click here to learn more about Telestroke at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital.
