Abrams Spotlight Productions, Inc. will holding open auditions for their next musical, The Wizard of Oz (By L. Frank Baum, With Music and Lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, Background Music by Herbert Stothart, Dance and Vocal Arrangements by Peter Howard, Orchestration by Larry Wilcox, Adapted by John Kane for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Based upon the Classical Motion Picture owned by Turner Entertainment Co. and distributed in all media by Warner Bros) on September 8 & 9, 2015 – 6:00pm-8:30pm at The Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple Street, Abrams.
Like so many girls her age, little Dorothy Gale of Kansas dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away over the rainbow to another world. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy’s imagination.
Actors age 8 and older are welcome to audition. Prepare an upbeat song from a musical to sing (not a song from The Wizard of Oz). You will learn and perform a dance routine in small groups at the audition. You must audition in order to be in the show, no late entries will be allowed. Rehearsals will generally be on Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday nights beginning in September. Show dates are scheduled for December 4-6 & 11-13, 2015. Please consider your availability for all rehearsals and show dates, and your level of commitment before auditioning. We are always looking for Backstage and Front of House Crew Members as well.
